Barrie Dragon Boat Festival Volunteers

The Barrie Dragon Boat Festival offers a variety of opportunities for individuals to participate in this great community event. We welcome applications from all interested individuals who are 14 years of age or older. Students are welcome to apply, and community hours can be credited. Two volunteer orientation sessions will be held
Tuesday, August 10 at 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, August 12 at 7:00 p.m.
in the Angus Ross room at Barrie Public Library

All volunteers MUST ATTEND one of these sessions, or contact the Festival Volunteer Co-ordinator to make alternate arrangements.
A Volunteer Waiver must be completed and signed prior to the festival event
Volunteers must be 14 years of age and up, or 16 years of age and up if handling cash
Volunteers in positions handling cash must be cleared through the Barrie Public Library
Volunteers must work in compliance with the Health and Safety Act
Volunteers must sign-in at the Volunteer Administration Tent a minimum of 15 minutes before the shift begins

Positions available:
Announcers Assistant DETAILS **
Assists the Announcer by collecting and relaying information

Dock Marshals DETAILS **
Work on docks and assist paddlers as dragon boats load/unload

Entertainment Area Crew DETAILS **
Act as stage-hand assistants to the Festival Concert Producer

Food and Beverage Runners DETAILS **
Distribute refreshments to Festival staff/volunteers unable to leave their positions

Information Tent DETAILS **
Provides festival information to the public and participants

Parking Crew DETAILS **
Control access to parking and the working area of the Festival

Results Recorder DETAILS **
Receives and records race results onto results board

Results Runners DETAILS **
Collect and relay race results from/to Race HQ and results board

Site Crew DETAILS **
Assist with setup and teardown of the Festival site

Team Marshals DETAILS **
Control access to marshalling area and docks, and assist in assembly area for teams

Team Registration DETAILS **
Assists with Race Day registration of teams

Volunteer Administration DETAILS **
Work in Volunteer Administration Tent assisting with sign-in, etc. of volunteers
