
Practice Information
It is the responsibility of Team Captains to book their team practice times directly with the Library.
Please read the details below regarding
booking practice times and related fees. Please note that registration
practices and paid practices include a steersperson but do not include
a coach. If you wish to book a coach for practices you are responsible
to contract with them directly on a one-to-one basis. We are happy
to provide a list
of available coaches.
Note: The Barrie Public Library/Barrie
Dragon Boat Festival reserves the right to verify steering competency
by having the Dragon Boat Coordinator accompany the team during
the practice.
The Barrie Public Library/Barrie Dragon Boat Festival also reserves
the right to approve coaches utilizing The Moore Dragonslayer and/or the Ribbon of Hope.
Registration prior to May 31 includes
two registration practices
Registration after May 31 includes one registration practice
The Moore Dragonslayer can be
booked for paid practices at an hourly fee of $70

Barrie Public Library/Barrie Dragon Boat Festival is not responsible
for teams failing to book said practice sessions, or leaving
their booking requests too late to be scheduled. |
Cancellations

- Practices go rain or shine
- Any cancellation decision will be
made at the water by the Dragon Boat Coordinator.
- Teams not showing up for scheduled
practices will forfeit their registration practice and/or
will be charged the standard practice fee of $70.
- Teams wishing to cancel a registration
or paid practice must give the library 72 hours notice otherwise
they will forfeit their registration practice or their paid
practice fee of $70.

The Moore Dragonslayer is
moored at the City Marina in the same place as summer 2008 for practices.
The mooring is directly on the Marina wall at the end closest
to the Marina Office. |
Waivers
|
- Each team member must sign and submit
a waiver to the Dragon Boat Coordinator at their first practice
session.
- Participants must be at least 16 years of age by the end of the calendar year and if under 18 years of age must have a parent/guardian also sign the waiver.
- Team Captains may print waiver forms,
distribute them to their team members prior to practice
and have them ready to submit to the Dragon Boat Coordinator
on site at the first practice
- At each practice session: Prior
to boarding the Dragon Boats the Team Captain will
verify and sign off that every team member boarding the
boat has signed a waiver.

Additional practice information:

- Practices should be booked at least
one week in advance, whenever possible
- Barrie Public Library/Barrie Dragon
Boat Festival will confirm your booking and advise you on
payment, if applicable
- As certain popular time slots tend
to fill quickly, you are encouraged to book early.
- The Barrie Public Library/Barrie
Dragon Boat Festival reserves the right to make changes
to the practice hours and time slots
