The fundamental objective of a Dragon Boat
Festival is to strengthen community spirit. It provides an opportunity
for citizens to demonstrate their organisational talent and resources
in hosting a major recreational and cultural event. The coming together
and support of our civic leaders, governments, businesses, sponsors,
donors, volunteers and various organisations is imperative to make
the Dragon Boat Race Festival a successful community event.
Some of this work has already begun, but
there is still much more to do.

of being a sponsor are. Find out how to enter
a team and raise money for local charities. Plan to be
a volunteer, either ahead of time, or on race day.
Many individuals have already come forth
to volunteer their time and have formed a Barrie Dragon Boat Festival
Committee. The committee currently meets every two weeks.
We would like to thank all those individuals
and organisations that have come together to help make the Barrie
Dragon Boat Festival a great success.
